SPLATTER MATTERS
Weld spatter occurs when small liquid particles are expelled from the surface of materials being welded due to pressure and heat. This molten metal causes many problems: degraded weld quality, higher downtime, more cleaning, and significant electricity costs.

THE COLD-FORMING ADVANTAGE
With over 50 years of experience, Luvata has perfected the production of resistance spot welding electrodes using extremely pure, oxygen-free alloys with no phosphorus. Our cold-forming process ensures high purity, consistency, strength, reduced waste, and increased efficiency. It also increases electrode strength. The result: every electrode in a production lot is exactly the same.

SPOT WELDING ELECTRODES

A-Trode®

The universal cap electrode for resistance welding of light-to-medium gauge coated and uncoated steels.

Produced by Luvata’s proprietary billet casting process, A-Trode’s freedom from oxygen allows us to alloy the copper with the optimum levels of chrome and zirconium. Electrodes are cold headed or machined to suit the required shape. Luvata has a long history of supplying high quality CuCrZr (A-Trode) electrodes.

Z-Trode®

Z-Trode® is the ideal cap electrode for resistance welding of light-to-medium gauge coated and uncoated steels and aluminum alloys. It is the electrode of choice for customers looking to reduce spatter in welding. Made from zirconium copper, the welding electrode cap outperforms conventional electrodes.

Alloy: Copper Zirconium (CuZr)
Advantages:
  1. Prevents sticking
  2. Requires less energy
  3. Resists mushrooming
  4. Reduces downtime

Traceability

All materials are fully traceable. Z-Trode electrodes can be recognized by their flats around the periphery of the electrode cap.

Nitrode®

Nitrode® is a cold-formed alloy of dispersion strengthened copper with aluminum oxide. Nitrode® demonstrates superior weld performance on a variety of steels. It resists mushrooming on the contact surface, allowing more welds before tip dressing, heat stepping or tip change.

No other cap electrode matches Nitrode® for cost-effective, high-quality performance in resistance welding. It consistently outperforms copper chrome and copper chrome zirconium electrodes by resisting annealing. All Nitrode® materials are traceable and can be recognized by their single knurl markings.

Benefits

  1. Longer weld life
  2. Non-stick
  3. Reduces energy requirements
  4. Works on all steels
  5. Lowers manufacturing costs

SPOT WELDING ELECTRODES

H-Trode®

Luvata has developed H-Trode®, a very high purity copper alloy ideal for resistance welding of 5000, 6000, and 7000 grade aluminum components. The combination of advanced copper metallurgy and cold-forming technology delivers an electrode that outperforms conventional options when welding aluminum.

The superior conductivity of H-Trode® ensures maximum electrical resistance stays between the aluminum sheets. This reduces the heat generated between the sheets and electrode, which in turn reduces sticking.

Benefits

  1. Compatible with conventional spot welding equipment
  2. Increased productivity
  3. Cost-effective electrode for aluminium welding
  4. High conductivity
  5. Non-stick properties

Compatible with Conventional Spot Welding Equipment

Alternative welding solutions have been developed for aluminum, but equipment is expensive, large and more difficult to implement than conventional spot welding. H-Trode® electrodes enable stable spot welding of aluminum alloys using conventional spot welding equipment.

Increased Productivity

Compared with alternative joining methods, spot welding using H-Trode® electrodes and standard dressing equipment significantly increases productivity.

Most Cost Effective Electrode for Aluminum Welding

H-Trode®’s increased life expectancy, maintenance savgins and consistent quality welds assure you the highest return on your investment for welding aluminum.

Physical Properties

All H-Trode® electrodes are cold worked and most items are fully cold formed to ensure the maximum hardness. H-Trode® has a high-conductivity of minimum 92% IACS.
